Each concert season, the KVYSO offers its current musicians (other than graduating seniors) scholarships for independent study at music camp or with private teachers, courtesy of the family of Dr. Lorne A. Schnell of Kankakee.
In honor of Dr. Schnell, the KVYSO will choose 5 applicants to receive a $500 scholarship. Successful candidates will be chosen on the basis of attendance, attitude, musicianship, the recommendation of a private music teacher, and those in good financial standing.
Applications for a study scholarship must be postmarked by March 30 of the current orchestra season. No Application will be accepted after that time. Current seniors are not eligible to apply. Awards for study scholarships will be made at the April concert. It is expected that study scholarship winners will return to KVYSO the following season.
The 3-page Study Scholarship Application consists of a 2-page ‘Musician’s Form’ and a 1-page ‘Teacher Recommendation Form’. All 3 pages of the application may be downloaded from this web site.
